Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma:

Lane Electronics’ admin office will be closing early today to give our employees time to take care of their last minute storm preparations. We also made the call this morning to stay closed through Monday.

We’ve been getting lots of calls from concerned customers so we want to address the most common concerns:

If your power goes out and you have a digital phone service, if you don’t have your modem plugged into a battery backup you will lose home phone service. You can buy a battery backup at any store that sells electronics.

If you lose power your alarm system will run on battery backup for up to 24 hours. The system will function normally (with the exception of a low battery beep warning) until the system loses it’s battery backup supply.

Alarm systems will return to power in the same state they were when they lost power: if your system is armed (turned on) when the power is lost, it will be armed when it regains power.

If you have an alarm event during the storm, police fire and medical personnel will only respond when it is safe to do so.

If your siren is triggered, the alarm system will reset itself and the siren will stop in approximately two minutes. If your system was armed and has not been disarmed, the system will trigger again if another zone is breached.

If you live in a gated community, it is wise to leave gates open during the storm and gate operators powered down. High winds can mangle gates, arms and other critical components. If power is lost and the gates are mangled you may not be able to leave your community and emergency personnel may not be able to come in.

Phone outages may also stop you from using the telephone entry to let guests or family members in or out.

Please be safe. The central station will be open 24 hours throughout the storm and operators will be on duty to take your alarm calls.

Our technicians will be on emergency call but again, will only respond when it is safe to do so.
