Your Security System Is Covered. But When Was Your Last Fire Alarm Inspection?

We’ve had the privilege of protecting your business for years. Whether we installed your security system, configured access control, or integrated cameras throughout your facility, you rely on us to keep your property secure.

There is, however, an area that often receives less attention: fire alarm inspections. Commercial fire alarm systems must be inspected regularly to remain compliant with Florida fire codes. When inspections fall behind, it can create compliance issues, occupancy complications, or uncertainty about system performance when it matters most.

What Many of Our Customers Don’t Realize

Over the past four decades, Lane Electronics & Alarm Systems has grown into a full-service low-voltage integrator. Our work extends beyond intrusion and video systems to include the design, installation, inspection, and service of complete commercial fire alarm systems across Central Florida.

It is not uncommon for long-term customers to discover that we also perform fire alarm inspections. That capability has been part of our service offering for many years.

Florida requires commercial fire alarm systems to be inspected in accordance with NFPA 72 as adopted under the Florida Fire Prevention Code. While most systems require at least an annual inspection, certain components may be subject to more frequent testing depending on occupancy type and system configuration. These inspections are mandated and enforced by the local authority having jurisdiction.

For organizations managing separate vendors for security and fire protection, consolidating those services often simplifies compliance and oversight.

Why Consolidate With One Trusted Partner?

Working with separate providers introduces additional coordination. Different service schedules, separate documentation, and multiple points of contact can complicate what should be a straightforward compliance process.

When services are consolidated with Lane Electronics, your facility is supported by a single team familiar with both your security and fire infrastructure. Our technicians are trained across fire alarm systems, intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, and monitoring. That broader visibility allows us to understand how each component supports the larger protection strategy within your building.

If you would like to discuss your current inspection schedule or explore consolidating fire and security services, call (407) 299-6070 or reach out through our contact page to schedule a conversation.

What Happens During a Fire Alarm Inspection?

During an inspection, our technicians follow NFPA 72 standards to evaluate each required component of the system. This includes initiating devices such as smoke detectors, heat detectors, and manual pull stations; notification appliances including horns and strobes; control panels and monitoring connections; backup batteries and power supplies; and sprinkler monitoring devices such as flow switches.

Upon completion, you receive a detailed report documenting system condition, identified deficiencies, and any recommended corrective actions. If service or repairs are required, we coordinate them directly to avoid delays or unnecessary third-party involvement.

Don’t Let Compliance Fall Behind

Inspection scheduling is typically the responsibility of the property owner or facility manager, and formal reminders are not always issued by the authority having jurisdiction. As a result, required inspections can unintentionally fall out of cycle.

We have worked with businesses that encountered delays in occupancy renewals or corrective notices due to outdated inspection documentation. Maintaining a consistent inspection schedule and accurate records prevents these situations and supports uninterrupted operations.

For existing Lane Electronics customers, incorporating fire alarm inspections into a service agreement provides continuity and clearer documentation management. We coordinate inspections around your schedule and maintain organized compliance records for future reference.
